On Sunday, 16th September, nineteen hundred and twenty three, there was born the first of the C.T.C. racing offshoots; for on that day a handful of fellows in the Eastern Section of the Metropolitan District Association held a 25 miles time trial and subsequently formed The Eagle Road Club.
We did not know then how our example would be imitated by District Associations all over the country; we did not know then that in the space of a few years we would become a very famous Club and the possessors of a team of champions – but we did know that we were out to make the best of our lives and of our newly-formed club.
